Nagase Osamu is a disability studies scholar based in Yokohama, Japan. He serves as the Chair of the International Committee of the Japan Society for Disability Studies, where Mark was an inaugural member. Nagase is also a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Ars Vivendi, Ritsumeikan University, where Mark was a visiting researcher.
Nagase is actively engaged with both international and national organizations of persons with disabilities. He serves as the Secretary-General of Inclusion International, a global network of persons with intellectual disabilities and their families, and is also a member of the Japan Disability Forum, a national umbrella organization of persons with disabilities.
His extensive career includes work as a development volunteer in Kenya, an associate expert on disability at the UN Secretariat in Vienna and New York, a peacekeeper in Cambodia, and an election monitor in Palestine.
